As part of the MCA code of practice for commercial vessels all of our safety boats and work boats have to undergo rigorous tests before they can be certified.

A couple of these tests are Person recovery and stability test.

Each person involved should wear an approved lifejacket. Two persons should recover a third person from the water into the vessel. The third person should feign to be unconscious which can be defined as 'not being able to help oneself' with their back turned to the boat as not to assist the rescuers.

This test is carried out to ensure that the vessel will remain stable throughout the operation and not capsize.

Here is a short video of two of our skippers carrying out the Person Recovery Stability Test in Liverpool Marina with our trainee Jack as our man overboard.

Well done !!! Jack for braving the cold temperatures of the River Mersey
